Rector of VSU named after P.M. Masherov, Doctor of Economics, Professor Valentina Bogatyreva became the laureate of the regional award "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region-2021"in the nomination social sphere (social protection of the population, culture, education, science, sports, health care, youth).

Thanks to the management decisions of rector Valentina Bogatyreva, VSU has ensured a significant increase in extrabudgetary resources: in 2020 and 2021, the volume exceeded 2018 and 2019 by 2.5 times. This created the financial opportunity to more than six-fold increase investment in logistical upgrades. Last year, the university won the Grand Prix of the International Business Award "Leader of the Year", received the Government Prize for achieving significant results in the field of quality, among eight Belarusian universities it entered the ranking of the best educational institutions in Europe and Central Asia.

The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee published the decision to award at the end of January, and today, March 15, a solemn ceremony of awarding 50 laureates in various categories took place in the St. Sophia Cathedral.

Addressing the holders of the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region-2021", the head of the region Alexander Subbotin noted that the conscientious work and determination of those present in this hall open up new horizons in various industries and strengthen the reputation of the entire region, and the achievements are of particular value. By their activity, each of the laureates proves how infinitely much a person can do, driven by the desire to make his land stronger and more beautiful.

The regional contest for conferring the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" is held annually in order to stimulate creative work, promote innovative ideas, and best practices. It is intended to emphasize the value of the merits and achievements of the inhabitants of the region and their contribution to the common cause of the development of the region.
