First Vice-Rector of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov Andrey Mekhovich took part in a meeting between the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, and a delegation from Jiangxi Province, headed by the Vice Governor of the Provincial Government, Sun Hongshan.
During the meeting, Andrei Pavlovich discussed with the leadership of Jiangxi Province the establishment of a Confucius Institute at the P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University.
As a result of cooperation between VSU named after P.M. Masherov and the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (PRC) in 2024-2025, agreements were reached to establish a Confucius Institute at the university – the only one in the Vitebsk region.
The official goals of the Confucius Institute include: promoting the study of Chinese language and culture abroad, developing international educational and scientific cooperation, strengthening intercultural dialogue, promoting academic mobility, and training specialists capable of working in the international arena and ensuring professional interaction with China.
The opening of the Confucius Institute is a welcome and timely step toward strengthening the Belarusian-Chinese partnership, developing international educational cooperation, and cultural dialogue.
