On March 27–28, during the annual session of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Geoecology, Engineering Geology, and Hydrogeology, Alexander Galkin, Professor of the Department of Ecology and Geography, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, was awarded the E.M. Sergeev Medal—a professional honor bestowed upon Russian and international scientists for achievements in the field of engineering geology (established in memory of the outstanding engineer-geologist, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences and RAS, on the centenary of his birth).

Alexander Nikolaevich successfully represents Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov at various national and international platforms, including the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment, as well as higher education institutions and research organizations in Russia, Uzbekistan, and China.
